(Parts taken from wikipedia
and official bio).
Von Deylen and von Schlieffen had creative differences, and a conflict between the both of them regarding the
direction the two wished to take Schiller led to Von Schlieffen leaving the group
Christopher Von Deylen doesn't provide vocals for any of his compositions, instead he chooses to collaborate
with singers from within and outside of Germany.
"My name is Christopher von Deylen - and I am Schiller." It doesn't take more than ten words. The fans cheer.
At some point, roughly in the middle of every Schiller concert, these ten words are spoken. The man stating
them smiles briefly at the audience, then immerses himself again in his unusual sound-worlds where he compresses
into music people's dreams and hopes, the atmospheres of our time, yes the vibrations of the world. Inspired by
electro classics like Tangerine Dream, Kraftwerk and Jean-Michel Jarre, von Deylen creates visionary sounds
that are way ahead of their time, because, with longing, they have absorbed past and present. New electronic music,
enthusiastically celebrated by fans and the press as "Global Pop." "Music that moves one really deep inside,"
is what Mike Oldfield said about von Deylen's compositions.
The musician, composer and producer didn't choose the name Schiller by accident. In 1998, the single "Glockenspiel"
was on the table, a musical adaptation. Christopher von Deylen had just read "Die Glocke" ("The Bell") by Friedrich Schiller
and from now on released his albums under the poet's name.
Musicians and vocalists who have worked with von Deylen include: German actor and musician Ben Becker,
Irish singer Moya Brennan of the Celtic group Clannad and sister to international new age star Enya,
International theater star Sarah Brightman, Peter Heppner of the German synth pop band Wolfsheim, miLu,
Xavier Naidoo, Maya Saban, Kim Sanders formerly of Culture Beat, Ana Torroja, lead singer of the Spanish pop group Mecano,
Tarja Turunen, former frontwoman of Finnish symphonic power metal group Nightwish, Greek singer Despina Vandi,
and Alexander Veljanov of German Darkwave group Deine Lakaien, as well as other electronic-music musicians including
Klaus Schulze, Mike Oldfield and others. Christopher von Deylen was born in October, 1970 close to Bremen. At the age of 7 years he received a piano as a gift from his grandpa.
Five years of piano lessons followed, until his interest waned. Occasionally he joined in for various pupils projects.
At the age of 16 years he tried a new approach, with a piano teacher who had interest in electronic music.
After few hours, Christopher has spent more time experimenting on the synthesizer, than playing the piano.
In the same year came his first "appearance": At that time his career aspiration changed from hotel keeper (" hotels I found always very full of suspense ") to sound engineer ("theoretically").
After a short course in business management, his studies changed to 'applied cultural sciences' in Luneburg.
In 1992 he interred with the main course of music. The study was finished in 1994 and Christopher published his first record.
Now the music had become his main purpose in life. He had access to the Boogie Parks Studio Hamburg and spent every free minute
of his time experimenting around with his ideas, unaided.
Christophers first single, still under the pseudonym "F.L.Y"., was called "Feel The Rhythm".
The record flopped, but Christopher continued (luckily) on his musical way.
Other musical projects followed: Polaris, Sin With Sebastian (!), Futuresmile, Mr. dynamites, novelties, phoenix.
Christopher lived in Hamburg and often visited a disco in which a certain Mirko von Schlieffen worked as a DJ.
They met by a mutual friend and decided to play musik together.
In 1997 came their first project with the name " Face The Phase ".
Other common projects like " La Chica of Linda ", "Caya", "Silver Shadow", or "Split" followed.
In parallel in addition Christopher continued his project most successful till then "Tank".
