BWO have become famous not only for their hilarious capacity to score one hit single after another
(they have delivered more hit singles in the Pan-European Singles Chart than any other artist in the 21st century),
but also as the latest representation of the proud tradition of Scandinavian tongue-in-cheek pop for the masses,
following in the footsteps of their native role models Abba, Roxette and The Cardigans. To emphasize the width
of their success, BWO achieved their first #1 hit single in Russia already in the autumn of 2003, when they were
still unknowns in their native Sweden, while they also had four singles in the UK Singles Chart in 2008 and a
Top 40 Dance Chart hit in the U.S. Their enthusiasm for extensive touring in countries rarely visited by other
Western artists has earned them a dedicated following in places as varied as Turkey, Lebanon, Israel, Kazachstan
and South Africa and #1 records to match. The songs of BWO are now routinely covered by major stars on different
continents: For example, a Mandarin cover version of their song "Sunshine In The Rain" was a #1 hit in China
and Taiwan for singer Jolin Tsai in 2008.
2008 came with a slightly lighter workload than usual for BWO. With a schedule focused on a compilation album and a
Scandinavia-only tour playing their hits to date rather than any new material, the band found considerable time to
develop new visual and musical ideas and write and produce their brand new fourth studio album, "Big Science",
set for a premiere release in Sweden in April. "Big Science" features 12 brand new songs plus two remixes, all
in all 14 tracks. BWO's fourth backstage member, co-producer Anders Hansson (of Cher and Christina Aguilera production fame)
has as usual been the driving force in the studio. Bard and Hansson have co-written and co-produced all tracks on the album.
In addition to band members Martin and Marina they have also found considerable support in the studio from Felix Persson,
Märta Grauers, Henrik Wikström, Johan Fjellström and Fredrik Kempe. The result is a multi-faceted electro-opus,
bringing influences as varied as contemporaries The Killers and Fischerspooner as well as classic idols
like Electric Light Orchestra and Tamla Motown to mind.
The first single and video from "Big Science" is "You're Not Alone", which is also BWO's entry to this year's
Melodifestivalen, the Scandinavian equivalent of Italy's San Remo Festival. "You're Not Alone" will be released
both as a melancholic and dramatic ballad and in a double-tempo discofied dancefloor version with video versions
available for both. The original maxi-single contains no less than 10 different mixes and remixes of the song.
"You're Not Alone" presents BWO steeped in a new maturer mood, initiating the fans to the eclectic new sound
of the "Big Science" album. A second single is planned for the summer with a third single to follow in the autumn.
BWO love to work, even when they are not tied up making music together in the band. Martin finished his Masters
Degree of Engineering at Stockholm's famous Royal University of Technology last year and now works as a consultant
for the telecom industry, inventing and promoting new ways of legally downloading and consuming music and
pop culture online. Marina is the founder and head of Galleri Andréhn-Schiptjenko - together with her business
partner Celine Andréhn - Scandinavia's leading gallery for contemporary art, and also works as a leading global
art dealer. Alexander is a philosopher and internet sociologist at the Stockholm School of Economics who has
written three books with his co-writer Jan Söderqvist: "The Netocrats" (first published in 2000),
"The Global Empire" (2003) and "The Body-Machines" (to be published in 2009), all part of a trilogy called
"The Futurica Trilogy". "The Netocrats" has already been translated to 16 languages and sold over 300,000 copies globally.
In their sparetime, the three members of BWO love to travel, party and - inspired by their native Greta Garbo
- live rather reclusive family lives. Martin plays tennis (he was Sweden's second highest ranked junior tennis
player as a 17-year-old), Marina loves boxing (both to box and to watch others box), and Alexander is one of
Sweden's leading trotting horse breeders with winners almost every week on race courses around Europe.
Alexander is also an internationally prominent theologist within his religion of conversion, Zoroastrianism.
